Ooohh the sight of it...

Mind if I vent for just a brief moment...?

I've spent this whole trimester mad at [biblical] Eve for eating the fruit from the Garden of Eden way back when. I know all it says in the Bible is that God punished her by causing childbirth to hurt but I'm convinced that God said "childbirth is going to hurt, etc, etc...basically you're gonna be sick and stuff". The first trimester of pregnancy is laaame. My second trimester begins the first week of April and I'm counting down the days. I recently purchased a book called "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy. She candidly explains her first and only pregnancy and it's so refreshing to hear someone else verbalize exactly what I'm thinking. It's especially nice to read after you lie to people about how you feel..."I feel great! [only not really, I feel like crap], this is such a blessing and I'm super excited! [only I'm faking this bubbly mood right now]...everything's rainbows and sunshine!...[only without the rainbows and more like black clouds and hurricanes]". My food aversions have consistently remained difficult and Italian food has always sounded capital Deee-sgusting. I cannot STAND Olive Garden commercials. What sounds good today will be completely different from what I'll want tomorrow. It goes like this:

Monday: Macaroni and cheese

Tuesday: Burritos...forgot the lettuce...
Alex: "I can't have burritos without lettuce! I have to have that lettuce!" [and I made a special trip back to the grocery store for $1 lettuce while Isaiah looked at me like this...]

Wednesday: Isaiah names off whats in the pantry..."macaroni and cheese?"....
Alex: "YUCK!...how bout BBQ"

Thursday: Breakfast food

Friday: Isaiah mentions the left over burrito fixings...
Alex: "SICK! How about Red Velvet cake?"

Saturday: Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans

Sunday: Isaiah...afraid to ask..."Sunday morning breakfast...?"
Alex: "Biscuits...but only with Apple Butter...please :)"

It's not entirely worth it for me to go out to eat anymore. Since I haven't felt good, I haven't been eating normal portions [and I think my stomach shrank]. I've always been one to pile a mountain of food [I can't eat] on my plate but now I have to remind myself that I can only eat 1 egg and 1 piece of toast when I feel like breakfast food. Quick story: One night Isaiah brought home a pizza [funny how all of my stories about Isaiah begin that way], I had one slice and didn't want any more and he goes "YES!" excited that he had an entire pizza all to himself :)

I had to ask my doctor at my first appointment if I was allowed to have caffeine and she said it was completely fine as long as I limit myself to no more than 4 glasses a day [1 or 2 being ideal]. I thought "oh good because I was going to drink sweet tea anyway"...haha!...not really...but seriously....
My child is going to come out Southern whether he or she likes it or not!

My next doctor's appointment has been changed. It's now March 16th. I'll keep you guys posted! :)

A First Time Grandmother's Reaction

The long awaited video has arrived! Isaiah and I are seriously considering sending this in to America's Funniest Home Videos...hey we could use an easy 10 grand for the baby! :)
p.s.) I apologize I haven't updated the blog very much! We've been experiencing internet delays at the Adams household.
And let the feedback begin! I wanna hear everyone's thoughts on this one!

First Doctor's Appointment

6 Weeks

Isaiah and I had SO much fun today!!

Our appointment started with an ultrasound that showed us our little bean (with a heart attached) which was our favorite part. They let us know that I was 6 weeks instead of 8 like they estimated and that my official due date is September 27th. There wasn't any sound at this appointment but we got to watch the heart beat which made everything so real and joyful! The x-ray tech told us that the baby's heart rate was in the 200's and it sounded wonderful. My sister told me that there's an old wives tale that says that if your baby's heart rate is in the higher digits, it's a girl, if it's lower (in the 100's), it's a boy...we shall see!

After the ultrasound I got to meet with my doctor (who was fabulous, and I loved). She spent a lot of time with me answering all of our questions so that we left feeling completely informed. Plus her office environment is like going to a spa. I thought to myself, "why have I been going to anyone else for my OBGYN appointments!?"

After we spoke with the doctor it was off to take blood and then we were done. The whole appointment took about 2 hours. I'm scheduled to see my doctor once a month and will only have one more ultrasound (which will be around 20 weeks- beginning of May) to let us know the sex and the overall health of the baby since it will be much more developed at that time.

I found out that my prenatals were the main source of my sickness so my doctor advised me to stop taking those during my first trimester and start taking Flinstone vitamins instead (YAY! those are so yummy!). Once I hit my second trimester, I'll be able to start back on the prenatals. So in addition to the Flinstones, I'll want to eat and drink lots of things with calcium, fiber, and folic acid...

I'm off to the grocery store :)
